You look out at your garden and see possibility.
You can imagine a place that feels peaceful, abundant and deeply personal—a place where you want to sit with a cup of tea, gather flowers for the house or simply watch the seasons unfold.
But somehow it never quite becomes that place.
You know there's something there.
You just don't yet know how to uncover it.

You've tried, of course.
You've bought plants because you loved them, copied ideas from magazines or television and followed advice that seemed sensible at the time.
Yet somehow it still doesn't feel right.
It's rather like buying a beautiful dress because everyone else is wearing it, only to discover that it doesn't suit you at all.
There is nothing wrong with the dress.
It simply wasn't made for you.
Gardens can be like that too.

Deep down, you know you're not looking for perfection.
You're looking for understanding.
You want to know why one plant thrives while another struggles, how to create places that feel beautiful throughout the year and, most importantly, how to make your garden feel like your own.
But the garden you're dreaming of may already exist.
You just haven't discovered it yet.

I'd like to tell you something that I wish more people knew.
You haven't failed.
You're not "bad at gardening."
And you're certainly not alone.
So many people stand exactly where you are now—looking at a garden they long to love but wondering where to begin.
The problem isn't a lack of enthusiasm. It's that no one has shown you how to understand your own garden.
We're surrounded by beautiful photographs, television programmes and social media posts, and it's easy to believe that everyone else knows something we don't.
But every garden is different.
Every gardener is different.
And that's why one size never fits all.
Gardening isn't something you're born knowing.
It's something you discover—one observation, one season and one plant at a time.
The fact that you're here means you've already taken the first step.
From here, we simply begin.

My story began with curiosity.
Long before I worked on television or wrote about gardens, I stood where many people stand today — looking at a patch of ground and wondering where to begin.
Armed with a borrowed gardening book and a soup ladle in place of a trowel, I planted anyway.
Some things thrived.
Some things didn't.
Over the years, through experience, observation and countless conversations with remarkable gardeners, I discovered something unexpected.
Gardening isn't about getting everything right.
It's about learning to understand a place.
That's what I bring to you now.
Not rules.
Not perfection.
Just practical wisdom.
Working with me is less about rules and more about rhythm.
It’s about slowing down enough to notice what your garden is telling you—and learning to trust your own instincts as much as the soil beneath your feet.
I’m not here for perfect gardens or complicated Latin names. I’m here for real soil under our nails, for the quiet joy of watching something grow, and for the calm that comes from reconnecting with nature. I believe gardening should be simple, soulful and for everyone—no rules, no pressure, no pretending.
Because together, we’re growing something far more powerful than plants.
We’re growing understanding, joy and a deep sense of home.
I’ll help you understand what your garden is telling you. Together we’ll discover what belongs there, how it wants to grow and how it can become a place that feels entirely your own.
Over six lessons, we’ll work through everything one step at a time. There’s no pressure to get it perfect—just thoughtful guidance, practical decisions and the quiet satisfaction of watching your garden begin to tell your story.
Because once you understand your garden, everything begins to feel easier.
I believe gardens are living stories.
Every flower and every plant can hold the memory of the day it was planted, the summer morning it first bloomed, the conversations shared among the bees and butterflies, and the afternoons when children built dens and picnicked on the grass.
I'm for gardening in my dressing gown and wellies, late-night torchlight slug hunts, and the quiet kind of joy that comes from sowing a seed and noticing something new growing.
I care deeply about helping people feel at ease in their gardens, not overwhelmed by them.
I'm done with perfection, complicated Latin names and the idea that beauty only comes from control.
I love a good cup of tea, weeding among the bees, the scent of flowers and herbs on sunny days, and conversations that wander between plants and life.
I have never believed that gardens are status symbols.
I believe they are places where we don't just grow plants.
We grow memories.
And perhaps, without even realising it, we quietly grow ourselves.
